Description
Zovis wears her white hair in a long French braid, wrapped in a loose crown around her head. It is carefully done, but often slightly undone by wind, motion, or absentminded handling. Her eyes are usually focused on something far away—clouds, waves, ruins, patterns others have not yet noticed.
She has a habit of ordering food without fully registering the exchange, only to look faintly surprised when it arrives. Her attention is often divided between the present moment and some distant problem she is quietly working through.
When she uses her magic, subtle changes appear: her skin pales toward white, faint scales shimmer briefly along her cheekbones or hands, and her eyes shift to a piercing ice-blue. If she pushes herself too far, frost gathers on her skin before slowly melting away.
Personality
Zovis is curious, distracted, and quietly determined. She is not reckless, but she is willing to test limits—hers and the world’s—if knowledge lies on the other side.
She tends to:
- Miss obvious social cues
- Notice hidden structures and patterns
- Step forward calmly in moments of crisis
- Surprise everyone, including herself, with what she can do
Zovis is not cold—just preoccupied.
Backstory
A Family That Wandered
Conzovris Andres was born into a large, itinerant family that moved wherever work could be found. Everyone had a trade. Everyone contributed.
Her dwarven uncle Tor was a tinkerer—brilliant, stubborn, and deeply resistant to teaching a girl. Zovis learned anyway, by watching.
Her mother was a one-eyed beauty with a needle, capable of stitching garments that lasted decades. Her father crafted shoes from the finest leather his brother the tanner could provide. Cousins balanced coins impossibly, fooled strangers with cards, and performed little magics that skirted the edge of truth.
Zovis worked wherever hands were needed: cutting leather, stitching seams, shaping wood so her brother Cane could finish spear shafts or walking sticks. She was never idle.
The Secret of the Andres Blood
Her grandfather was different.
A pale, gentle man who kept his face and hands covered, he taught Zovis leatherworking—and, at night, whispered words in Elven. Words he made her swear never to speak outside the family.
One night, he told her the truth.
Their family was descended—distantly—from a Silver Dragon. They were originally from Osweg. There was an ancestral holding there, accessible only through magic.
He made her repeat its name in Elven so it would remain secret:
The Andres Estate.
When he finally showed her the scales along his neck, the catlike shape of his eye, Zovis realized her mother was not missing an eye at all—she had been hiding it.
Zovis decided then, at fourteen, that she would one day reclaim what was theirs.
Awakening
Somewhere between wandering towns and growing older, Zovis discovered her magic.
Frost formed at her fingertips. Air bent when she focused. Sparks leapt when she lost concentration. With practice came control—and consequences. Scales. Ice. Eyes that no longer looked entirely human.
She learned to hide it.
She learned to sail.
She learned to navigate by stars she felt more than saw.
The Sea Spray
Zovis joined the Heterland Navy hoping at least one friend would join her.
Aboard The Sea Spray, she proved invaluable:
- Freezing enemies mid-battle
- Healing companions when no one expected her to
- Identifying ruins, statues, and ancient workings
- Keeping her head when others panicked
When the ship exploded and the survivors washed ashore, Zovis was already changing.
She began to understand that dragonglass, ruins, dragons, and her blood were not separate mysteries—but the same story, told from different angles.

She does not yet know whether she is meant to reclaim an inheritance…
…or survive it.
