The Golden Circlet Colony
Elven Settlement of Osweg
Overview
- Type: Rural Elven Colony
- Region: Osweg
- Founded: By royal decree, generations ago
- Population: Small, insular
- Reputation: Peaceful, vulnerable, ideologically divided
The Golden Circlet Colony is a secluded elven settlement set amid rolling land and low forest near the Osweg coast. Established long ago by royal grant, the colony was intended as a place of quiet labor and reflection—removed from conflict, ambition, and the politics of the wider world.
Time has not been kind to that ideal.
Description
The colony is composed of modest stone-and-wood dwellings arranged in loose rings around shared fields and communal spaces. Buildings are low and functional, built to endure rather than impress. Decorative elements are minimal, favoring simple carvings of leaves, grain, and abstract solar motifs.
At the colony’s center stands a circular meeting space marked by worn stones set into the ground—the Circlet from which the settlement takes its name. No metal crown exists; the circlet is symbolic, not literal.
The land is fertile but exposed. There are no walls.
Culture & Beliefs
The Golden Circlet follows a deeply held pacifist tradition. Violence is believed to invite greater suffering, and restraint is seen as a moral necessity rather than a weakness.
Core beliefs include:
- Conflict begets escalation
- Survival is preferable to honor
- Endurance is a form of resistance
These beliefs have preserved the colony through hardship—but have also made it a target.
The Krakens’ Shadow
For years, the colony existed under the quiet control of The Krakens, a bandit confederation that demanded regular tribute. Food, supplies, and compliance were extracted under threat of violence.
Resistance was rare. When it occurred, it was punished publicly.
The harassment of Elisha was not an aberration—it was enforcement.
Internal Divisions
The arrival of the Sea Spray Survivors and their intervention fractured long-standing consensus within the colony.
Two philosophies now coexist uneasily:
- The Elders, who believe pacifism must be preserved at any cost
- The Quiet Reformers, who believe preparation and outside alliances are necessary for survival
Ellisha has emerged as a reluctant voice among the latter.
Resources & Importance
The lands near the Golden Circlet are rumored to contain:
- Fertile soil
- Natural caverns
- Access to unstable Dragonglass deposits
This proximity has made the colony strategically significant—whether it wishes to be or not.
Recent Events
- Intervention by the Sea Spray Survivors disrupted Krakens control
- Dragonglass was removed from nearby caverns
- Bandit surveillance has been reported in surrounding hills
The colony remains intact—but exposed.
Reputation
To outsiders, the Golden Circlet is seen as:
- Idealistic
- Naïve
- Tragically unprepared
To those who live there, it is:
- Home
- Sanctuary
- A promise under strain
Current Status
The Golden Circlet Colony endures—for now.
Whether it can continue to do so without abandoning its founding principles remains uncertain.
