Blackreach
A fortress-city of iron, ash, and stubborn will, Blackreach stands defiant against both the horrors of Lost Solis and the advance of the Infernal Empire.
Overview

Type: Fortress City / Capital
-
Country: Free Republic of Arkon
-
Population: ~35,000 (including rotating military forces)

Description
Blackreach is less a city than a permanent military position that grew streets.
Carved directly into black volcanic stone, its walls are thick, angular, and scarred by repeated assaults. Towers bristle with ballistae and signal fires. The air smells of soot, oil, and hot metal, carried constantly by dry, ash-laced winds from Lost Solis. Buildings are squat and functional—stone, iron plating, and reinforced wood—built to survive explosions rather than look impressive.
Civilians, soldiers, and laborers move with the same hardened posture. Everyone carries a weapon or a tool, often both. There is little laughter, but no panic either. Blackreach feels prepared, always waiting for the next alarm.

Blackreach is honest, harsh, and dangerous.
Everyone is expected to contribute—coin alone is rarely enough.
Cowardice is despised, but competence is respected immediately.
If Blackreach falls, the Republic falls with it.
