Leda

A druid born into civic power, torn between polished halls and untamed places she refuses to abandon.

Leda is a familiar figure in Strangeways and Valinport society, known as the daughter of Ophelia Gebhart (Mayor) and once considered a perfect example of civic refinement. That image never quite fit. Beneath the poise and manners lies a druid with a fierce love of the natural world, drawn to forests, animals, and wild places that the city increasingly fears or destroys.

Her devotion to nature—and the magic that comes with it—has been a constant source of friction with her mother, who views such passions as dangerous, impractical, and politically ruinous. Leda’s refusal to temper that wildness has earned her quiet disapproval at home and whispered admiration elsewhere.

She was once engaged to Calen Veylin, a union meant to bind influence and stability together. The engagement placed her squarely at the center of Valinport’s power structure—and ultimately showed her how fragile and conditional that acceptance truly was.

Leda walks easily between drawing rooms and wilderness paths, but belongs fully to neither.

When forced to choose, she has begun to side with the living world rather than the orderly one.
